Job Description

We are seeking responsible and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants (TAs) for the following courses:

The TA will work closely with the instructor to foster an engaging and positive English-learning environment. The TA will provide classroom support, as well as assist with course administration and serve as a resource for students throughout the semester. Depending on the course, the TA may also conduct individual oral English practice sessions with students and prepare or facilitate selected classroom activities.

 

This position is well suited for upper-level undergraduate or graduate students who are organized, flexible, and enjoy working with people. An interest in English language education or English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) is a plus. 

Job Duties

Teaching

  • Assist with classroom activities (answer student questions, facilitate discussions, distribute materials, assist with technology)

  • Attend all scheduled class meetings

  • Model effective and respectful academic English communication skills

  • Conduct one-on-one oral English practice with up to 30 students (EMIPP and Social Sciences only)

  • EMIPP only: prepare and facilitate selected EMI activities in class

Administration

  • Enter grades and attendance into NTU Cool on a weekly basis

  • Print and/or prepare classroom materials on a weekly basis

  • Respond to student inquiries via email or in person

  • Assist with other course preparation and administrative tasks as needed

 

What You Will Gain

TAs will work closely with a native English-speaking instructor, providing regular opportunities to strengthen their English communication skills. 

 

Depending on the TA’s interest and the needs of the course, TAs will also have the opportunity to contribute ideas for and facilitate classroom activities, building skills in collaboration, problem-solving, and confidence in communicating ideas with others. 

Requirements

  • Current NTU student (third-year undergraduate or above)

  • Comfortable communicating in English (listening, speaking, reading, writing)

  • Complete a mandatory EMI TA training, consisting of online modules and a 2-hour session in person

Preferred Qualifications

  • Comfortable speaking in front of a group and giving directions

  • Previous experience leading or facilitating activities

  • Enjoy language learning and working with people

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 4-6 hours per week, including class attendance, course support, and administrative tasks

  • For EMIPP TAs, an additional 5-8 hours per semester may be required for one-on-one oral English practice sessions

Compensation

  • Undergraduate students: up to 6000 NT/month

  • Graduate students: up to 7500 NT/month
